Montréal-Trudeau Airport: new U.S. departures area opens August 19

Montréal (August 17, 2009) – On August 19, the Montréal-Trudeau Airport will open its new U.S. departures area, located in the western extension of the main terminal building. Travellers will have immediate access to 50% more check-in counters. Passengers will not have to transport their checked luggage to U.S. Customs and walking distances will be shortened significantly since passengers will have direct access to the transborder jetty after passing through the duty-free shop. The opening will have no impact on passengers arriving from the United States.

A Marriot hotel above the new area will offer, as of August 18, 275 first-class rooms while the below-street level will provide parking for 500 vehicles. The new U.S. departures area is the final major element of the airport modernization.
